Kloudless Adds New Box Event Monitoring: Enables More Granular and Detailed Real-Time Activity Alerts

BoxWorks announcement

Kloudless (kloudless.com), a Box (box.com) Platform Partner, today announced the support of Box’s new event notification capabilities, Box Webhooks v2, which Box made generally available this week at BoxWorks 2016. The new functionality enables software developers to build applications that are immediately alerted to any activity in a Box user’s account. Box Webhooks v2 integration is part of Kloudless’s Universal File Storage API, which supports real-time activity monitoring capabilities for over 20 other services like Dropbox, Google Drive, and Microsoft SharePoint Online. More details about Kloudless’s Events and Webhooks APIs can be found at https://developers.kloudless.com/docs/latest/events.

“Receiving information in real-time is a necessity for the speed of business today. Developers need to build enterprise-grade software that is agile enough to keep up with that pace,” said Eliot Sun, CEO and Co-founder of Kloudless. “The robustness of our activity monitoring platform is a big reason why customers choose Kloudless, and we’re excited to augment our event reporting functionality by upgrading to the new version of Box Webhooks.”

To innovate faster, minimize risk, and distance themselves from competitors, enterprises are reliant on real-time information for internal operations. Vendors hoping to sell software to enterprises must offer functionality that meets these requirements. For example, security companies like CASB and SIEM services track events in real-time to quickly detect and analyze security incidents. Collaboration software like project management and enterprise social tools monitor user activity to instantly provide new updates and drive projects forward. Workflow automation vendors use Webhooks to trigger actions and orchestrate important processes.

“For [our] Events API, you need to keep polling the event stream and filter those you want,” said Yang Hu, a Box Platform Software Engineer, during BoxDev at the BoxWorks 2016 Conference. “For Webhooks v2, you create a webhook and wait for us to push the notification to you. We made a tremendous investment in our backend to make Webhooks asynchronous and more reliable.”

Kloudless’s event monitoring capabilities include:

  • Code once to monitor many: Build one time to support real-time activity monitoring for Box and over 20 other cloud and on-premises file storage services. Other services include SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Egnyte, Citrix ShareFile, Dropbox, Google Drive, and more.

  • Real-time and historical events: Receive notifications and retrieve events for new, modified, and deleted objects. Organization-wide events are available for user/group modifications, collaboration events, and more.

  • Extensible to other business applications: Events and Webhooks capabilities are available for our Universal CRM API, and will be available in future Universal API products.

“Developers that are selling software to enterprises need to reliably retrieve and react to activity as it occurs,” said Vinod Chandru, CTO and Co-founder of Kloudless. “Supporting the latest technologies like Box’s new Webhooks API is a key part of our mission to provide best-in-class developer tools to our customers.”
