Kiwi Energy Sponsors City Parks Foundation's Green Girls Program

Kiwi Energy

As part of their new partnership with City Parks Foundation, Kiwi Energy is excited to sponsor City Parks Foundation’s Green Girls program.

This innovative program inspires early adolescent girls to excel as environmental scientists and stewards of New York City's precious natural resources. The program takes middle school students on outdoor adventures in parks and along waterways after school and during the summer. Green Girls is aimed at helping girls develop a new understanding of natural ecosystems, discovering how they can create positive change within their environment, and learning about future careers in the sciences.

We're proud to support Green Girls because it offers aspiring female environmental scientists STEM education, a traditionally male-dominated field. The program is also great because it acts as a platform for young women to learn about our planet— specifically natural resources, why they are important, and why we need to take care of them.

Richard Booth, President of Retail Operations, Kiwi Energy

Green Girls is offered throughout the year across two different platforms. Green Girls After School runs throughout the school year with free weekly sessions and combines science, technology, interactive games, and field trips that focus on gaining understanding of natural ecosystems in New York City. The Green Girls Summer Institute engages up to 30 middle school girls, ages 10-13, in five weeks of fun-filled outdoor adventures July through August. Based in Long Island City, the Green Girls travel to all five boroughs to study the dynamic urban forests of New York’s parks and waterways.

"We're proud to support Green Girls because it offers aspiring female environmental scientists STEM education, a traditionally male-dominated field. The program is also great because it acts as a platform for young women to learn about our planet — specifically natural resources, why they are important, and why we need to take care of them," says Richard Booth, President of Retail Operations, Kiwi Energy.

Registration for the Green Girls After School fall 2017 program is now open. For more information, please visit https://cityparksfoundation.org/green-girls.
