Kiwi Energy Sponsors Brooklyn Greenway Initiative's Epic Ride
New York City, New York, May 30, 2017 (Newswire.com) - From the East River to the Jamaica Bay, the beautification of the Brooklyn coastline has come a long way — and there's no better way to see it than with Brooklyn Greenway Initiative's Epic Ride. This will be Kiwi Energy's fifth year sponsoring the event, and they're excited once again to support this great event and organization.
Now in its ninth year, the Epic Ride takes cyclists on either a 25- or 40-mile-long journey from Greenpoint to Riis Park Beach along the Brooklyn Waterfront, showcasing the development and progress of the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway and the Jamaica Bay Greenway. Riders venture through open roads, city, state and national parks, discover waterside neighborhoods and conclude at Riis Park Beach. Upon reaching the finish line, riders can continue the fun with the Epic After Party at the Riis Beach Bazaar; there, riders can look forward to live music, food, and drinks.
"We are proud of our partnership with The Brooklyn Greenway Initiative and supporting a progressive organization that demonstrates what community-driven change can do. The Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway is a vital part of Brooklyn's Green Infrastructure and contributes to a more sustainable city."
Richard Booth, President of Retail Operations
The Epic Ride is one of the Brooklyn Greenway Initiative's annual fundraisers and helps raise awareness and generate funds for the continued development and restoration of the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway, a 14-mile landscaped route for pedestrians and cyclists that, when complete, will connect regional, neighborhood parks and green spaces from Greenpoint to Bay Ridge.
"We are thrilled and grateful to have Kiwi Energy's support again this year for The Epic Ride. We could not ask for a better partnership with the committed team at Kiwi Energy!" said Brian McCormick, Co-Founder, Brooklyn Greenway Initiative.

About the Brooklyn Greenway Initiative
For over a decade, Brooklyn Greenway Initiative (BGI) has acted as the catalyst for the development, establishment and long-term stewardship of the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway. Beginning in 2004, BGI and planning partner Regional Plan Association (RPA) hosted initial public workshops along the Brooklyn waterfront to develop a Conceptual Plan. BGI and RPA then worked directly with NYC DOT to host additional workshops and develop the Implementation Plan for the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway, which was released to the public on June 21, 2012. Today, the Greenway consists of 23 NYC DOT capital projects, spanning 14 miles from Greenpoint to Bay Ridge.
