Kindle / Android + Sudoku Works App + Win At Sudoku = Heaven!
Online, May 8, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Gary Livacari has recently discovered a simple and easy way to use the Win At Sudoku method with the popular Sudoku Works* Kindle/Android app.
He explains: "This discovery opens up a new and very efficient way to combine the way I prefer to play Sudoku - the Win At Sudoku method - with the benefits of portability and efficiency that derive from tweaking the settings of the Sudoku Works Kindle / Android app that I downloaded onto my Kindle e-reader."
Livacari is a long-time fan of Sudoku and he believes that the Win at Sudoku transformed the way he plays the game: "From that point on, Sudoku became much more fun and enjoyable.
"I said Good Riddance! to the headache-inducing strategies we've all struggled with! I haven't looked for a "Swordfish" or an "X-Wing" since I finished Eardley's book! I play at fairly high levels, and I have yet to find a puzzle that I can't solve using the WAS method."
Caro Eardley, author of the Amazon Kindle best-seller Win At Sudoku, comments: "Some people - myself included - prefer playing Sudoku on paper. That's fine. But for the many people like Livacari, who would prefer to play on their e-reader - or any other device including PCs, laptops, and smart phones, this is great news.
"I've been researching ways and means to give my readers access to my method over the complete range of popular electronic devices available today. For this large and important group of users, Livacari's discovery is a breakthrough."
Further research will be done to confirm the performance of this combination of method and app on a range of devices.
Here's how to set Sudoku Works up for the Kindle e-reader:
Start Sudoku Works. Select "Start New Puzzle". On the next screen, select the following settings: Puzzle - Normal; Grid Size - 9x9; Difficulty - select the level you want to play at. *Select "Play" and the new puzzle grid will appear.
Select "Options" on the bottom left of the screen and check the following: Show Timer; Show Errors; Highlight Selected Numbers; Hide Pencil Marks.
A small screen pops up asking: "Hide All Possible Answers?" Select OK. The puzzle reappears and the game is ready to play.
And here's a brief outline of how to play the Win At Sudoku way:
Scroll through the numbers at the bottom of the screen to determine the NOD box order* and proceed with normal StartGame strategy.
To place an option: select a number and click twice on the cell in which the option is required. The small option number will appear in the cell.
To remove an option: click on the cell again. The small option number will disappear.
To place a Found Number: select a number and click on the appropriate cell once.
To remove a Found Number: click on the cell twice.
After placing all available options, progress to the Midgame and Endgame as normal using the Win At Sudoku method, remembering to recheck for new options and revising existing options as the game progresses. If desired, a paper worksheet can be used to hold additional information as the game progresses.
Livacari does not find this to be necessary: "This information will get you started. With a little practice, you'll see how easy it is to use this app. So you can now play Sudoku anytime, anywhere on your e-reader. I think this simple combination will be enjoyed by many Sudoku fans."
