Artists and Artisans get a leg up as they launch their dreams on Kickstarter
The Yagotta Box, a kit that makes life a little bit easier by making sure that the items you need are on hand when you need them, has reached its funding level and become another successful Kickstarter project.
Colleen Gildea, an entrepreneur from Mill Valley California, heads the Yagotta Box project. The Yagotta box is a creation that grew out of the needs of daily life working with a wide range of people. Time after time of needing a safety pin, nail clippers or wet wipe demanded a small, durable container that contained that and more, hence, The Yagotta Box.
Gildea launched the product through Kickstarter, a funding platform for creative projects. She found working on a Kickstarter project is a real time experiment in social media marketing and ways to harness the internet. Talking to people in person about her project and discovering the reach that Kickstarter has attained in such a brief period of time left her amazed.
"I was surprised and pleased when I found that more than 70% of the guest around the Thanksgiving table this year were aware of or had some experience with Kickstarter. I know the twenty some things in my life were onboard --- but this was a table of guests that were all in their 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's." Colleen Gildea
About Kickstarter
Kickstarter is a funding platform focused on a broad spectrum of creative projects. Artists, designers, technologists, musicians, filmmakers, and foodies go to fund their creative projects. It is brilliant. Kickstarters include a range of projects from 3-D printers to video projects to delicious taste treats. People make a pledge to fund a project and get rewards. Everyone wins!
Kickstarter, based in Manhattan, was founded in April 2009 by Perry Chen, Yancey Strickler, and Charles Adler.
