Kicking Off Drug-Free Summer With Football Match
The town of Fabriano rallied to support the Narconon drug rehabilitation center and to launch a community-wide drug education initiative.
Fabriano, Italy, June 6, 2016 (Newswire.com) - The football field in the town of Albacina, Italy, was packed with fans and friends for a soccer match that paired the local Railroad Afterwork Association with Narconon Astore from nearby Poggio San Romualdo.
Despite fierce competition, players on both sides held the rival team in the highest regard. And when the match ended with Narconon Astore winning 2-1, the fans went wild.
The match was organized with the purpose of launching a community-wide campaign to take effective action against drug abuse and addiction. And at the end of the game, athletes and fans, including the local bishop and a Fabiano city councilman, drove to the Narconon center for a buffet and planning session to expand drug education throughout the region.
All guests were given copies of a brochure on the Narconon Program, and were encouraged to help set up drug prevention lectures that Narconon staff and volunteers will deliver for local schools and youth activities and organizations.
In appreciation for its stellar results in helping people free themselves from addiction, the Fabriano city councilor presented the Narconon Center with a ping pong table for use by the program’s residents and staff.
