KEYMILE Presents New GPON Card for MileGate
Online, February 12, 2014 (Newswire.com) - KEYMILE's new GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) card enables connection via passive optical networks of a large number of customers with multi-service access platform MileGate and very fast broadband access. Together with the passive optical card KEYMILE's MileGate 2310 and 2510 subracks operate as GPON-OLT (Optical Line Termination) nodes. The card provides bandwidth of up to 2.5 Gbps downstream and 1.25 Gbps upstream per GPON port. Due to passive optical splitters, on each of the card's eight ports network operators can connect up to 128 end devices and therefore customers too. A fully fitted MileGate 2510 offers up to 160 GPON ports, enabling network operators to connect several thousand customers with little space required. Thanks to high port density and lower power consumption, MileGate is also ideal for use in outdoor cabinets.
Network operators can run the new GPON card together with all other cards in one MileGate subrack. The possibility of combining passive and active transmission is an advantage for purely optical networks. As a result, the line density that is so important for residential customers can be combined with the data security that is so crucial to business customers. But MileGate also allows cost-effective creation of hybrid access points which require optical fibre and VDSL2 connections with added vectoring.
All MileGate boards and a number of services can be managed centrally using the UNEM network management solution. With just one element manager for all services network operators can simplify the set-up process and therefore save costs during operation. KEYMILE's GPON-OLT card will be available in the coming month.
