KaraokeFest Winner Springboards to Oprah's Karaoke Challenge, $250,000 and a Dream Come True.

Abraham McDonald Wins Oprah's Karaoke Challenge and Takes Home $250,000 and a Recording Contract.

Cypress, California - November 13, 2009 - While America is in love with the search for talent, fate smiles down on a chosen few who after being at the right place, at the right time, and following their dreams, find themselves with their feet headed down the path to stardom.

One such young man, Abraham McDonald with a passion for singing and the talent to match, started his journey by entering the Karaoke industry's largest singing competition, KaraokeFest 2009. After weeks of pre-qualifying at Southern California's local Karaoke venues, Abraham found himself as a finalist at Karaoke Scene Magazine's KaraokeFest Crème De La Crème singing competition held at the LA County Fair in September.

"This was KaraokeFest's 15th year as the nation's largest and most established Karaoke singing competition," stated Peter Parker, publisher of Karaoke Scene Magazine. "When I received the call from the Senior Associate Producer of Oprah's Harpo Productions, I was thrilled that they wanted to send a camera crew down to the KaraokeFest finals to tape our contestants! We're proud of the talent that turns out for our event each year, and I was confident they would find great singers for their Karaoke themed show."

The Oprah team spent close to 12 hours taping singers and doing interviews, and followed the progress of McDonald, who at the end of the competition found himself the winner of KaraokeFest 2009. However, that was the tip of his iceberg to fame.

Oprah producers chose McDonald as one of 8 semi-finalists for their on-air competition that started last week. After a brilliant performance judged by music industry mavens Ashford & Simpson, platinum selling artist Billy Ray Cyrus, and the legendary Gladys Knight, and nationwide voting by the Oprah Show viewers, McDonald found himself as one of 3 finalists.

If that didn't qualify as the experience of a lifetime, yesterday McDonald went on to the finals and sang R&B classic, Oleta Adam's "Get Here" to a panel of music industries biggest movers and shakers, L.A. Reid, Dianne Warren and David Foster. David Foster said Abraham's performance was "200% better than last week." Diane Warren said "Wow!" L.A. Reid said Abraham struck the "perfect balance."

The announcement of McDonald's win that includes $250,000 cash and a recording contract was clearly what this big-man of faith and undeniable talent had prayed for. Oprah's viewers had spoken and McDonald's reaction was one of pure bliss.

Karaoke Scene Magazine's KaraokeFest staff congratulates McDonald on his win and is more than happy to have been the launching pad of his dreams, and an anticipated long, successful career in music. Parker goes on to say, "This is a big moment in the spotlight for the Karaoke community, and Abraham has made us proud!"
