KaMMCO Health Solutions to Deliver Statewide Health Information Exchange, Analytics, and Patient Engagement Tools in Seven States

Physicians and healthcare professionals nationwide are in the midst of unparalleled industry transformation. Successful adoption of the new performance-based delivery and payment models will rely heavily upon electronic health record (EHR) interoperability and development of actionable intelligence through analytics. KaMMCO Health Solutions (KHS) is now working to deliver a suite of interoperability and analytics products and services in partnership with medical societies in six states beyond Kansas, including Georgia, South Carolina, Connecticut, New Jersey, Missouri, and Louisiana.

While numerous health information exchange (HIE) efforts across the country have launched and failed over the last decade, KHS presents an option that clearly resonates among physicians and healthcare leaders. The unique factor in the KHS-HIE development and operational model is the physician-led approach to data governance. KHS partners with healthcare providers and organizations to build the necessary infrastructure, effectively employ data analytics for improved patient outcomes and quality reporting, support enhanced patient engagement, and provide innovative risk management products.

KHS’s parent company, KaMMCO, has built a solid reputation over the past 28 years as an innovative, physician-led organization whose core business has been professional liability insurance. “KaMMCO’s culture is one of unparalleled service and advocacy to healthcare providers and the patients they serve,” explains KaMMCO and KHS CEO, Kurt Scott. “We now extend the same defining advocacy principle to the new era of healthcare challenges through our KHS subsidiary. Physician leadership ensures we put patient care at the center of everything we do.”

The South Carolina Medical Association (SCMA) is partnering with KHS to establish the Carolina eHealth Network (CeHN). SCMA Board of Trustees member and CeHN advisory committee chairman Gregory Tarasidis, M.D., shared, “As a practicing physician connected to CeHN, one can expect increased ease of data flow and availability at the point-of-care with less time spent tracking down information, making both the EHR experience and patient experience better. The KHS HIE model and analytics products provide physicians with solutions developed by physicians for physicians.”

“We value the already-proven, sustainable HIE model that KHS can partner with us to deliver in New Jersey. This is a truly disruptive concept in healthcare, creating a paradigm shift for both the physicians and the patients,” said Medical Society of New Jersey Board of Trustee member and HIE advisory committee chairman, Kennedy Ganti, M.D., FAAFP. “Physicians are working hard to improve the quality of healthcare and patient outcomes. As a provider, not only will I have access to a more longitudinal record of a patient’s care at the right time, but so will the patient.”

“The KHS products and services combined with these new partnerships is a real game-changer,” said Laura McCrary, Ed.D, Senior Vice President of KHS and Executive Director of the Kansas Health Information Network, Inc. “KHS’s web-based analytics tool delivers a more complete accounting of patients’ healthcare, allowing providers to make data-driven decisions.” McCrary is recognized nationally for her expertise in business intelligence for healthcare and her leadership of one of the most successful HIEs in the country.
