Joyz Inc. Announces Worldwide Availability of TerraTalk for Android

TOKYO, JAPAN, March 18, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Joyz Inc, the Tokyo based startup which develops technology and products focused on language learning, today has announced worldwide availability of TerraTalk for Android, an AI-backed English practicing app.

The company has previously released TerraTalk for Android in Japan, when it also announced a seed-round funding of $1.34 million. The app is aimed at intermediate English learners wishing to improve their verbal communication skills.

Upon opening the app, users are given a collection of role-playing scenarios, which is currently updated twice a week. A specific mission is given for each scenario; getting through immigration as a traveler for instance. Interface is primarily voice based so users are able to practice their listening and speaking skills. Each lesson lasts up to two minutes.

After completing of a lesson, users are immediately presented with scores on Pronunciation, Expression and Fluency. The company has developed its own algorithms to achieve this feedback functionality. The company plans to continue with its R&D effort to support teaching/coaching within the app, on top of scoring that is currently provided.

Joyz Inc was founded by Yoshiyuki Kakihara, formally an engineer to Sony and the Met Office. The company is located in Shibuya, Tokyo.
