Jimenez Tobacco Releases the Most Expensive Cocktail in New Jersey, 'The Matriarch'
NEWARK, N.J., July 12, 2018 (Newswire.com) - Jimenez Tobacco plans to release New Jersey’s Most Expensive Cocktail, "The Matriarch," listed at $280. The cocktail will be unveiled in an exclusive tasting experience on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 limited to fifteen guests at their Newark speakeasy, located at 31 Liberty Street, Newark, NJ 07102.
"The Matriarch," keeping with the Jimenez culture, will be a masterpiece developed for a lifestyle of decadence. Barkeep, Marc Witzig, has constructed a timeless tippler – Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt, 1989, reunited with Oloroso Sherry, whose barrel the whiskey was aged in. A syrup crafted from oils of orange peels exaggerates the tropical and intensifies citrus components of this fine and rare Scotch. A hint of local is found in the Ameraucana blue egg, sourced from Oak Hill Farms, in Red Bank, NJ. Served with the cocktail is the Jimenez ESPÍRITU cigar, a 6” x 52 gauge, slight peppery spice, boasting of strong, earthy tones, contrasted by a smooth and creamy finish.
The tasting will include a conversation on the cocktail and accompanying cigar’s colorful complexities, led by Witzig, as well as a look at the institution’s legacy. Alongside of the tasting, the Jimenez Family has curated an evening of local, complimentary culture, an abundance of edible delicacies and delights, live music by Newark’s own, Randy Haze and more.
"The Matriarch" is named after Nelda Pozo-Jimenez, who emigrated to Newark from the Oriente region of Cuba. For the past thirty years, Nelda has carried on the family tradition of meticulously hand blending premium cigars, with renowned Cuban expertise. Jimenez Tobacco is a strong, matriarchal institution and also home to the ONLY female Master Blender in the country. She is a pillar of the community and praised for attributing her comprehensive knowledge and skill to a timeless craft. The Jimenez ESPÍRITU cigar is her collaboration with her son, Ricardo P., Jimenez, as she passes on the torch of Master Blender on to him.
The fifteen guests will be presented with a one-time price of $250. Tickets for the event are first come, first serve. They will go live July 11, 2018 and can be purchased at 10:00 A.M. on. After the release of "The Matriarch," the cocktail will be listed at $280.
