Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler are to be judges on "American Idol" when the singing competition show returns for its 10th season, it has been announced.

MTV.com said "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest confirmed the recording stars' casting on the series at a press conference Wednesday after months of speculation about who would get the jobs.

"Idol" judges Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi left the show last season. Randy Jackson, the only original judge left on the show, is to return for Season 10, alongside Lopez and Tyler.

Asked how he felt about his new job, MTV.com quoted Tyler as saying: "Fabulous. Wonderful. Feels like the perfect feathered nest."

"It's being a part of something much bigger than yourself," he added. "I want to bring some rock to this roller coaster and show you that if you got the heart, you got the talent and you got the feeling to do this, you could be the next 'American Idol.'"

"I'm looking for the next Michael Jackson," Lopez said. "We're looking for the best 'American Idol' ever. I'm really excited. I really am." LOS ANGELES, Sept. 22 (UPI) --
