J.A. Air Center Delivers Its First CAV Ice Protection Installation

J.A. Air Center is proud to announce that it has delivered its first CAV Ice Protection System to Mr. Gary Strock on his new 2016 Cessna T206H based in PA. The project was coordinated through Mr. Vincent Smith, Airview Inc. and both were VERY happy with the quality and attention to detail.

TKS® Ice Protection is the preferred IPS for most new general aviation and unmanned aircraft built today. Working as a freezing point depressant with a freezing point below -76°F (-60°C), TKS fluid exudes from the laser-drilled titanium panels on the leading edges of the wing, wing strut (if applicable) and empennage leading edges. A traditional slinger-ring provides ice protection on the propeller. Protection of the entire airframe is provided due to fluid runback. Dependent on whether the TKS Ice Protection system is either No-Hazard or FIKI certifying, the windshield is protected by either one or two on-demand pumps. A backup mode is provided for FIKI-certifying systems.

TKS® Ice Protection Systems are a de-ice and anti-ice solution for the area covered by TKS titanium panels. TKS also protects aft of the panels since the fluid flows over the entire chord of the protected surfaces.

CAV Ice Protection and its predecessors have designed and manufactured airborne ice protection systems for over 20 aircraft OEMs, over 30 aircraft models and even more aircraft model variants.

About J.A. Air Center:

J.A. Air Center was formed on a basis of providing dealership-caliber service to aircraft.

J.A. Air began with a brief partnership in 1965 between Charlie Parker and Jack Goeken. Parker later teamed with an airline pilot to found Joliet Avionics, a small avionics shop at Joliet Airport in Joliet, Illinois. The company enjoyed substantial growth throughout the late 60’s. In 1975, with only 10,000 square feet to its name, Joliet Avionics opened its doors at DuPage Airport as strictly an avionics shop.

In 1982, Joliet Avionics added maintenance and fuel capabilities, with an eventual evolution into larger aircraft. Joliet Avionics expanded its hangar and office space in 1986, purchased Avionics Associates, Inc., and began doing business under the name J.A. Air Center.

Today J.A. Air Center occupies more than 85,000-square-feet of hangar; 10,000-square-feet of office space; and employs more than 85 people. Thanks to the dedication and expertise of its employees, J.A. is now one of the Midwest’s most-complete avionics, maintenance and modification centers – and still is growing!
