It's Been A Year Of Reunions For SMCS Alumni

Following on the heels of two SMCS alumni chapter reunions earlier this year, three more were recently held, this time by the New Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai chapters

Alumni, with the work they do out in world, can make or break a school's reputation and SMCS is fortunate to have a strong alumni network.

Since its PGDM programme has students from all over India, the alumni network is spread across the country with chapters in all metros and an international chapter in the Middle East as well.

This has been a year for SMCS alumni reunions - following on ones held in Bangalore and Cochin in August, three more were held last month by the chapters in New Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai.

On November 5, about 50 New Delhi alumni and their families attended the reunion at the Quality Inn in Gurgaon, organized by Sindhu Pandalai - a PGDM from the sixth graduating class who is now an entrepreneur in Gurgaon.

Also taking part in the event were Prof. Pramod P. Thevannoor, Sr. Group Director; Prof. Indu Nair, Group Director; Dr. V. Raman Nair, Director, SCMS-Cochin and Dr. Filomina P. George, Dean-Academic Administration.

Then on November 19, the Hyderabad chapter reunion was held at Ohris Restaurant, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, organized by Sunil Baby (batch 6), Branch Head, LG Mobile, Andhra Pradesh. Again, about 50 alumni and their families were present.

In the Chennai meeting as well 36 alumni were present, including one from the first batch. Prof. Pramod P. Thevannoor, Sr. Group Director; Prof. Indu Nair, Group Director; Dr. V. Raman Nair, Director, SCMS-Cochin; and George Mathew, Manager, Corporate Relations were present.

Alumni play a key role in the development of the institution, providing support for projects and final placements with some of them serving as part time faculty and some teaching a full course.

Those working in far off places take time to come and interact with students and share their experience in the corporate world, giving students an opportunity to get an insight into the corporate world.

Alumni also play a major role in updating the course of study, coming up with suggestions for incorporating the latest trends and changes in the industry they work in.
