Isis and Osiris (I&O): Myth Re-told
Online, April 22, 2010 (Newswire.com) - 22 April 2010: Egyptian culture is known for its exotic history and mythology. Home to one of the most ancient civilizations that the human organism has ever known, Egypt is replete with color and magic. Its pantheon of divinity, particularly, has enthralled generations down the ages. Perhaps the most alluring tale of all is the story of Isis and Osiris (I & O). It is an astounding story of love, jealousy, and intrigue. Of determination, resignation, and will power.
Right from the mystical conception of the main characters- Isis, Osiris, Set, and Nephthys - to the deceit of Set and his ultimate revenge, the ancient story has held everyone in its grip. Lovers of yore have been inspired by the marriage of Isis and Osiris, their extraordinary love and adoration, and their unfortunate separation thanks to the evil manipulations of Set who tricked Osiris into stepping into a custom-made coffin. The coffin was then tossed into the long and turbulent Nile. Isis, on coming to know, reacted with shock initially but lost no time in setting out to locate the coffin with the hapless Osiris inside.
Hailed as the picture of determination and will power Isis searched for her husband high and low till she reached Byblos where she found the elusive chest resting next to the roots of an enormous tree. Returning to Egypt with the coffin she hid it in the marshes where the evil Set found had dismembered it. The pieces were them tirelessly re-located by Isis who revived Osiris briefly to be able to conceive their heroic son Horus.
In Egyptian mythology, Osiris is known variously as the God of Love and the God of Afterlife. Isis, on the other hand, is known as the Giver of Life.
Come aboard and join in the exploration of their glorious journey thanks to ZE2 Media, Inc which has chosen the name I&O™ as the official acronym for Isis and Osiris™.
