Is Hollywood Ready For A Christian Invasion?
Los Angeles, CA, August 6, 2014 (Newswire.com) - With the ever increasing human carnage and rampant debauchery dictating plot lines in Hollywood movies today, MiLLENNiAL wouldn’t expect to see Christians standing in line at the box office. So who would have guessed that a low budget (12 million), faith-based film, Heaven is For Real, would be such a summer blockbuster to the tune of 91 million dollars? The answer is Sony Studios, under the watchful eye of 36 year old VP of Production, DeVon Franklin.
MiLLENNiAL Magazine met up with DeVon at UniciCasa in Culver City, CA to learn about his personal faith, career trajectory, and future plans for Franklin Entertainment. In a town of overnight successes, Franklin’s story is anything but that. It took him 18 years to become a film producer and to reach what he calls “the beginning of his dream”. His faith in God, penchant for perseverance, and firm belief that millennials should not wait for the “magical opportunity to arise” but rather “get up every day and work on it” even in the face of adversity, is the fuel that drives his success.
"Hope and inspiration are the secret sauce to content."

As a Christian and motivational speaker, DeVon is an excellent role model for young adults. His story is proof that if you swallow your fear and doubt and maintain your faith, you will succeed in life. When asked what it is like to be a Christian in Hollywood, DeVon responded, “You can’t worry about external forces, you have to focus on – this is what I’m here to do, this is what motivates me, this is how I’m called to live.”
DeVon’s plans for Franklin Entertainment include producing inspiring and motivating films, “I want people’s hearts to be touched, their lives to be touched, and I want the evidence of that to show up at the box office.” To the faith-based filmmakers who are committed to their principles, he offers this advice “hope and inspiration are the secret sauce to content” and finding identifiable human stories with “mass appeal” will distinguish a quality filmmaker from a sensationalist.
