IPad Interaction Takes A New Direction With MusixCube The Visual Playlist Editor
Online, December 22, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Locassa today announced the release of MusixCube, a new visual playlist editor for the iPad which is pushing the idea of natural gesture-based interaction to new levels. The app is targeted at the iPad due to itʼs large form factor and rich media capabilities and allows users to create music playlists in the most natural and unique way ever seen on such a device.
Simon Lee, CEO of Locassa, spoke of the approach that was taken to the design and interaction within the app "The iPad is a fantastic device but we donʼt think anybody has really seen or taken advantage of its true capabilities with respect to user interaction. With a multi-touch surface, rich media features and a ʻgo anywhereʼ form factor, why do we need to produce menus of information, buttons to click, items to highlight and so on? The simple answer is we donʼt, and as such we tried to strip all of this out of MusixCube."
So what is it with MusixCube that makes it different from other iPad apps? Well it is the natural gesture- based interaction which allow users to work with the device in an easier and more intuitive way. Users construct playlists by touching, moving and dragging items around, no menus, no navigation just simple user interaction. Simon explains the main thinking behind the key elements "MusixCube is all about touching your music, moving your music and doing things quickly and simply. To move an item I drag it to where I want and everything else flows into place. To delete an item I simply pick it up and shake it. To change the track of an item I pick it up it and then expand the cover to reveal the track listing. MusixCube is simplicity combined with elegance and that, we believe, is its true charm."
Features of MusixCube include:
- Integrates with your iTunes library.
- Quick and simple playlist creation and management.
- Unlimited playlist length.
- Save multiple playlists and mark as favourites.
- In-built help system.
MusixCube is currently available in the Apple App Store across all regions and retails for $1.99 (£1.19).
