Introducing The Spectacle at Fred Segal
Online, October 7, 2010 (Newswire.com) - After over 20 years of having a dedicated sunglass department, David Gonzales, owner of Fred Segal Eyes, has teamed up with Dana Farias, who is widely considered to be one of the best licensed opticians and luxury eyewear veterans in Los Angeles. Together, they have created The Spectacle at Fred Segal, a dedicated full service optical department in Fred Segal Santa Monica. Bolstered by perennial favorites Oliver Peoples and Paul Smith, Gonzales and Farias are looking to small independent optical lines to provide exclusivity and cutting edge fashion. Collections from Barton Perreira, Salt, Anne et Valentin, Moscot, and Zero G will round out their opening roster, with an ever present eye to the future in eyewear. At The Spectacle at Fred Segal, Gonzales and Farias aim to provide their clients with exclusive, independent, luxury optical brands as well as the impeccable service and professionalism their individual clients have come to rely on.
David Gonzales began his career working for Michael Campbell, owner of Fred Segal Finery, as a manager and assistant buyer. Twelve years ago, he purchased Fred Segal Eyes. He quickly earned a reputation as having one of the best eyes for what's hot in the eyewear business, as well as an uncanny ability to find the perfect frame for every face. Most importantly, he explains why it works or why it doesn't. Gonzales has decided to expand his business by co-creating a full service optical shop with Farias.
Gonzales explains, "Dana and I have known each other for years. When she heard I was looking to open a dedicated optical boutique here at Fred Segal, she contacted me to see about the idea of us partnering up. Right from the start I knew it was the perfect plan. I felt that collaborating with one of LA's best licensed opticians as managing partner would make for one of the best specialty optical boutiques in the city."
Dana Farias offers over sixteen years of experience in high-end, luxury eyewear on both the wholesale and retail level, working for international companies like Oliver Peoples and Optical Shop of Aspen, to name a few. Farias traveled the world, managing to always keep her finger on the pulse of upcoming eyewear trends as well as hone her technical skills. Together, with their combined knowledge and experience, Gonzales and Farias are committed to finding that perfect fit.
"I want everyone to leave The Spectacle feeling like they finally look good in glasses! Whoever says they don't look good in glasses has probably never been properly fit before, and that's why I'm here," says Farias.
The Spectacle at Fred Segal will be involved with "See Better, Learn Better," a free eyeglasses program in partnership with the Mexican government and Augen Optics. Their aim is to provide a solution to children who cannot afford the high cost of an eye exam and eyewear. The program gives a free eye exam administered in schools and students can pick their own frames. The prescription and desired frames are produced locally by Augen, a Mexican company, and then delivered to the schools. For every pair of glasses purchased at The Spectacle at Fred Segal, one pair of glasses will be donated to this great organization.
The Spectacle at Fred Segal is located at 500 Broadway in Santa Monica.
