Introducing Nevada's Largest Recycling Event Presented On Earth Day
Online, April 17, 2013 (Newswire.com) - This Saturday marks the Festival of Communities and GreenFest pairing together to kickoff Earth Day in Las Vegas, NV. The celebration will be hosted at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus (UNLV) from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Both events and parking are free and open to the public.
GreenFest is proud to mark this event as the valley's largest and most diverse recycling and repurposing collection in Southern Nevada. Each year Republic Services and Green Alliance sponsor the collection. The event aids our community to divert materials from landfills responsibly and support local organizations.
Residents are encouraged to bring down their recyclables and used items for free recycling collections anytime during the event. Collections will be held in the Thomas & Mack parking lot located off Swenson Parkway and Tropicana Avenue. The first 250 guests dropping off recyclables will receive a free special gift!
Numerous Las Vegas and Nevada based community organizations will also be present during this monumental event. Shred-It Las Vegas will collect documents and computer hard drives for on-site destruction, the Blind Center of Nevada will accept electronics and Republic Services will accept commingled recyclables from your home or office. New to GreenFest this year is a repurpose collection; HELP of Southern Nevada will collect clothing for young children in our community including infant to middle school age clothing, and gently used baby items (no car seats). Project 150 LV will accept gently used clothes and shoes appropriate for teenagers including formal wear for prom, graduation and job interviews, school supplies, and sports equipment.
