Introducing Cold Welding Technology at Offshore Europe 2015
Belzona is exhibiting at Offshore Europe 2015 and will be showcasing their latest innovations in polymer technology.
Aberdeen, Scotland, September 2, 2015 (Newswire.com) - This year’s Offshore Europe, both the exhibition and the conference organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers, will bring together innovations in terms of efficiency and safety in line with the current economic climate.
In keeping with the theme, Belzona will be drawing attention to its “Cold Welding” technology, where the bonding of two metallic substrates can be completed without hot work by utilising 100% solids epoxy adhesives.
"The presentation will look at scenarios where hot work is not desirable or permissible and propose a viable alternative. Safety critical systems in particular benefit from installation and repair techniques that are safer and less hazardous than hot work."
Jérémie Maillard, Belzona Project Manager - Oil and Gas
Jérémie Maillard, Belzona Project Manager – Oil and Gas, will be presenting a paper on the use of “Cold Welding” as part of the Technical Session 12: Managing and Maintaining Our Offshore Assets Effectively. Mr Maillard commented: “The presentation will look at scenarios where hot work is not desirable or permissible and propose a viable alternative. Safety critical systems in particular benefit from installation and repair techniques that are safer and less hazardous than hot work.”
The presentation allows a short time for questions and interested parties are also welcome to attend the Belzona 1J50 stand for further discussion about cold applied adhesives. This cold bonding technology will be illustrated on a display piece set to mimic a scenario of handrail installation on tanks and offshore structures. Belzona technical representatives will also be on hand to discuss the history and applications of these high performance epoxy adhesives.
In addition, other latest innovations will be introduced at the show, including a novel flange encapsulation coating and a next generation wrap system for thin- and through-wall defect repairs, compliant with international pressurised piping repair standards.
