InnerCity FiberNet Announces Acquisition of Gigabit Communications

InnerCity FiberNet (ICFN), a Dallas-based fiber-optic infrastructure provider, announced today that it has agreed to acquire Gigabit Communications (Gigabit).

ICFN enables high-speed, high-reliability, cost-effective connectivity solutions for enterprise business, education, data center, carrier, cloud and hyperscale companies over its proprietary metro fiber-optic network in Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas (DFW). ICFN's deep fiber-optic network in DFW provides metro ethernet, metro dark fiber, custom network solutions and fiber construction services.

"We are very pleased to join efforts with Alex Ochoa and his team and expand our service area beyond the DFW metro," said Tom Spackman, Chairman of ICFN. "This combination of infrastructure and talent will allow ICFN to assist its customers in their use and deployment of next generation communication services. Alex Ochoa will join ICFN as a partner and general manager of South Texas."

Gigabit is a wireless and fiber internet service provider with operations in San Antonio, Austin, and the Lower Rio Grande Valley. Gigabit is revolutionizing the way enterprise and residential customers receive their Internet, by offering enterprise-grade data services in their select markets. Gigabit continues to rapidly expand its fiber and wireless network throughout South Texas.

"This acquisition positions us as a Top Tier 1 provider throughout Texas. Our customers can expect to receive the same highly rated gigabit service, along with new data offerings only available with ICFN's fiber footprint. We are excited to join the ICFN team and to build for the future," says Alex Ochoa, CEO & founder of Gigabit.

The acquisition is subject to regulatory approval, and is expected to close before the end of the year.
