Infinity Rehab Offers Telehealth for Seniors During COVID-19
WILSONVILLE, Ore. , May 6, 2020 (Newswire.com) - Infinity Rehab, a senior therapy services company, is among the approved telehealth providers recently announced by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Occupational therapy (OT), physical therapy (PT), and speech-language pathology (SLP) are now approved telehealth providers by CMS. Infinity Rehab offers telehealth and other virtual care services in approved settings to meet the rehabilitation therapy needs of seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Infinity Rehab has a strong telehealth history going back to 2012 when the therapy company received an award for innovation in the pioneering use of telehealth in physical therapy from the National Association of Rehabilitation Providers and Agencies (NARA).
This award came three years after Infinity Rehab implemented its telehealth model.
Leaders across Infinity Rehab have advocated for telehealth on the national level, including Infinity Rehab Division President JoLynn Munro’s advocacy for telehealth needs on Capitol Hill in 2019. Munro returned to Capitol Hill in February 2020 with Infinity Rehab Director of Compliance and Strategy Michelle Jabczynski to advocate for expanding telehealth services to include OT, PT, and SLP. Their efforts were successful as CMS has now approved this waiver during COVID-19.
During her visit with Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley and fellow NARA representatives, Munro also shared Infinity Rehab’s experience in Washington State using telehealth for physical therapy supervisory visits, also called telesupervision. Infinity Rehab was a pioneer in telehealth, advocating with state licensing boards to change legislative language and allow for telesupervision.
Clinicians across Infinity Rehab also advocate for telehealth by presenting at local and national conferences. Infinity Rehab staff Angie Quesnell, Carolyn Staples, and Jabczynski presented on telesupervision technology during the 2018 American Speech-Language-Hearing Convention. Jabczynski also presented this year for the National Association for the Support of Long Term Care (NASL), and Mike Billings (Chief Innovation Officer for the Avamere Family of Companies) and Jabczynski have presented at NARA.
