Indiana Jr. Ice Pee Wee Major Going to Quebec!

LOCAL YOUTH HOCKEY TEAM EARNS BERTH IN PRESTIGIOUS QUEBEC INTERNATIONAL PEE-WEE TOURNAMENT

The 2001 Indiana Jr. Ice Pee Wee Major team has been invited to participate in the 55th edition of the world renowned Quebec International Pee Wee Tournament. The tournament takes place in Qubec City, Qubec, Canada from February 12th 23rd 2014, and will host teams from all over the world, including the USA, Canada, Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, China, Japan and even as far away as Australia and South Africa.

It has been over 20 years since a team from Indiana has been invited to participate in this tournament.

In its 55th season, the tournament is the largest, most prestigious, and most international tournament of its type. It typically includes the best pee wee hockey players (aged 11 13) from around the world, and has featured over 1,000 future NHL players including names such as Gretzky, Lafleur, Lindros and Lemieux. Games are held at the Colise Pepsi, former home of the NHLs Qubec Nordiques (now Colorado Avalanche) and will feature crowds of up to 12,000 spectators.

The 01 Jr. Ice have earned this invitation through hard work and a winning record over the past two seasons against some very tough competition in the US. Currently ranked 9th in Tier 2 of the United States, they play in the Central States Development Hockey League and are frequent participants in AAA (Tier 1) tournaments and showcases. They recently captured the championship trophy in the Madison, WI Turkey Classic Tournament over this past Thanksgiving weekend with a thrilling victory over hosts Madison (WI) Capitols.
