Inception Marketing Returns from Prominent Leadership Event

Inception Marketing's top performers recently attended a national leadership conference, and the firm's director of operations discussed the strategies he and his team members utilized to make the most of it.

“The leaders at Inception Marketing, along with myself, are sincerely invested in the success of our team members,” said the company’s director of operations. “We strive to maintain an upbeat and supportive company culture, and to allow our professionals ample opportunities to develop themselves both personally and professionally. One way we accomplish this is by inviting them to attend conferences and trainings.”

The director explained that the event from which he and his colleagues just returned was a great bonding experience. Furthermore, the group enjoyed networking with many of the marketing industry’s most influential players and listening to motivational speeches on a variety of topics, including business growth, recruiting, team building, and leadership.

"We strive to maintain an upbeat and supportive company culture, and to allow our professionals ample opportunities to develop themselves both personally and professionally. One way we accomplish this is by inviting them to attend conferences and trainings."

“Of course, we also made time for some fun,” he stated. “The hotel and conference center where the function was held offered free meals, a pool, a gym, and a spa. Needless to say, having a good time wasn’t much of a problem!”

Inception Marketing’s Director Shares Techniques for Maximizing Conference Experiences

“While I believe there’s a lot to gain from simply showing up to conferences and similar functions, I think it’s necessary to put forth some effort if you really want to benefit from them,” continued Inception Marketing’s director. “For instance, I encourage my team members to be really careful about separating wisdom from action. There’s so much to learn at these events, but if you don’t bother implementing any of these actions back at the office, it’s essentially useless.”

He indicated that he and his colleagues get together after attending conferences and review the information they collected. Then they discuss ways they can integrate this knowledge into their practices. Finally, they create and schedule action steps.

“Come to think of it, when it comes to gathering information during these events, it’s easy to become overwhelmed,” the director noted. “There’s so much happening, so I find that it’s best to distill every presentation and workshop down to one primary lesson. By identifying the essentials, it’s easier to preserve the most value.”

“Of course, sometimes the most useful benefits don’t come from formal speeches or seminars at all,” concluded the director. “If I have the opportunity to get coffee with someone who really has a lot to offer, I’ll gladly skip something on the conference agenda to do so. It’s much more important to forge a meaningful relationship than to miss a discussion about which someone can fill me in later.”
