As reported in the New York Times on Sept. 29, 2017, Abe George's five-year pro-bono journey to free defendant Foster Thompson has reached a head.

Foster Thompson was accused of the 1992 murder of Cynthia Browning in Staten Island, New York. He was tried two times and was convicted of murder in 1994, sentenced to life in jail.

After more than two decades, attorney Abe George, who has spent the last five years investigating Mr. Thompson's case, has found evidence that he says exonerates Mr. Thompson, and is trying to persuade the Staten Island District Attorney's Office, headed by Michael McMahon, to reopen the matter.

The new evidence Abe George has acquired includes a confession from an alternative suspect which he got when he flew to Jamaica, and the testimony of an accomplice who was 16 years old at the time of the Browning Murder.

"The striking amount of evidence Mr. George has amassed suggests his efforts are more than just a case of a lone lawyer on a quixotic quest." (New York Times, Sept. 29, 2017)

Abe George looks forward to the day Foster Thompson is set free.
