IHI Energy Storage to Provide Software, Integration & Ancillary Services for Hecate Energy LLC
Chicago, Illinois, April 18, 2017 (Newswire.com) - IHI Inc. (IHI), a subsidiary of IHI Corporation, announced today it has been selected by Hecate Energy LLC to provide ESPilot™, a site control software, to support Hecate Energy’s provision of ancillary services to Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO). IHI’s ESPilot™ will operate a 2MW/6MWH size battery for a front of the meter project located in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. This project is part of series of energy storage procurements made by the Ontario IESO.
The energy storage system designed by IHI will utilize IHI Controls Software, ESPilot™, a Schneider Electric inverter procured by IHI as well as new zinc-iron redox flow battery technology from ViZn Energy Systems. As part of this project, IHI will provide complete system integration and will dispatch the controller pre-configured to provide ancillary services including voltage control and reactive power support.
