IAM Group Limited (Ltd.) - Seoul Korea Appoints New Charity Officer for Yokohama, Japan
Yokohama, Japan, November 19, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The non-profit and self-funded Seoul, Korea based charity organization IAM Group Ltd just appointed its new charity officer for the Yokohama Japan sector. Arata Hisakawa, age 35, will be starting a new job this week. It turns out that the job is the Charity Officer position at IAM Group Ltd in Yokohama.
“I've been an active IAM Group member since 2005 and over the years, I've read blog posts about the ups and downs of the organization, the complaints about the limiting effects of being a wholly-owned self-funded company. I sympathized with others who felt that IAM Group would be able to do better as an crowd-funded organization.”

Arata Hisakawa, Charity Officer
That announcement included the fact that IAM Group Ltd in Yokohama Japan was looking for a Charity Officer. Arata Hisakawa said that he'd be lying if he said that it didn't immediately cross his mind to imagine what it would be like to do that job. He left his full time occupation over a year ago and been doing random charity work in the organization ever since. His last position was only as a Director of Engineering and didn't have any straight-up Charity Officer experience, despite having managed large teams of engineers and working on numerous business and startup issues.
“So imagine my surprise when two days later, I was contacted asking if I was interested in talking about the position.” said Arata Hisakawa.
At first, Arata Hisakawa didn't really quite believe he was a serious candidate. “It didn't seem real, and I knew that I didn't match the profile of what you might consider (or so I thought) a Charity Officer candidate. I don't have the polish and the poise and the schmoozing. Instead, I'm an engineer and a leader of engineers and I play Starcraft (poorly).” He added.
This soon to be Charity Officer of IAM Group Ltd Yokohama Japan spent the past decade of his career learning skills important to self-drive organizations. He began as an engineer, and later moved on to managing teams. According to him, even later, he learned about leading even larger teams, growing organizations, and about key business issues relating to startups, finance, open source, internationalization, and non-profit corporate development. “I learned these things just because they were interesting, and because I felt by doing so I could be helpful to the people I worked with. But it was only when I got the call to consider joining IAM Group Ltd – Seoul, Korea that I finally felt that perhaps this was what it had all been for: to help IAM Group Limited spread its blessed-wings and become a fully successful charity organization, doing right by its community and people around the world.”
Charity groups that use technology to do truly great things are rare, and Arata Hisakawa ‘s hope is for IAM Group to become one of those. As part of the young engineer’s joining, they’ve been working with publication companies and other worldwide charity organizations to complete IAM Group’s spin-off. “We've established a new board including and a revamped capital structure that will allow IAM Group to manage its own finances and operations, including the ability to provide competitive equity compensation to its traveling volunteers, which we haven't been able to do in the past.” Arata Hisakawa said to the news team. Arata Hisakawa was inspired by the words of an engineer who once described Google as a place where "engineers can go all the way to the top, a place where the IT and HR policies are written with engineers in mind."
The small community of IAM Group Ltd in Yokohama Japan is undergoing a serious change in their local policies. This structure is so that IAM Group can move quickly and flexibly, have full control over its resources, and grow to meet the demands of its mission. Members there are not looking to step in and make "big, bold changes" and the team has a lot of good features already in the pipeline to improve functionality for guests and officers, help with the online community, improve the client support, and help bring IAM Group to more people. Arata Hisakawa’s primary goal for his first few months is to listen and try to learn as much as he can about the details of the community.
“I think the best way to get acquainted and learn what's important to everyone is to have an ongoing conversation.” Arata Hisakawa stated to conclude the interview.
