Milton Schwartz was born in Chicago in 1925, studied architecture at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 1943-1947, apprenticed in Chicago and received his architectural license in 1952. Schwartz opened Milton Schwartz and Associates in 1951, which successfully operated until 1985. His career was unorthodox as he had been simultaneously a contractor, developer and an architect. Milton Schwartz' projects were located in Chicago in addition to neighboring neighborhoods such as Waukegan, Illinois, and Indianapolis, Indiana, where Schwartz developed apartment buildings. In Chicago his projects included hotels, motels, and high-rise apartment buildings as well. In the 1960s Schwartz was also the architect for the Dunes Hotel in Las Vegas, where he developed numerous residential buildings including a 22-story addition and two large restaurants. Schwartz' projects were incorporated in a 1993 event at the Art Institute of Chicago.

Schwartz had occasionally discussed his childhood in Chicago and pertaining to the enormous influence of his immigrant father whom was a plumbing and HVAC contractor. Schwartz' exposure to building and construction at an young age fostered his motivation to become an architect. Mr. Schwartz had undertook studies at the University of Illinois, where he heard demonstrations by Frank Lloyd Wright, who had been an uplifting touring lecturer. Schwartz had been selected to complete construction plans following World War II for the Navy on installations in the Chicago area. Milton Schwartz had continued by designing greater construction projects. His initial major design and construction project, a 21-story residence structure, 320 Oakdale, is presently situated nearby to Chicago's Lincoln Park, which he developed as a much younger man. Mr. Schwartz had gone on to develop the Executive House (a modern hotel), inside the heart of Chicago, which ended up being then one of the tallest reinforced concrete buildings in the entire world. Schwartz may possibly be appreciated best for his work in Las Vegas as architect for the Dunes Hotel in the decade of the 1960s, during which time the owners reopened a closed property and continuously added to it, with Schwartz as their lead architect.

This modern jewel with Prairie Modern architecture was build in 1962. The house is set on five plus private acre plot of land with more than 160 feet of lake frontage on Honey Lake in North Barrington. The residence is in spectacular condition and features walnut floors, and spacious contemporary living, fully finished walkout basement, and more than 5,400 feet of living space.
