Hudson River Health Care (HRHCare) and Brightpoint Health Announce Intent to Merge

Better access to higher-quality health care for communities across the Hudson Valley, New York City and Long Island

Hudson River Health Care (HRHCare)

Today, Hudson River Health Care (HRHCare) and Brightpoint Health announced their intent to merge and create a combined healthcare organization better positioned to meet the needs of underserved communities across the Hudson River Valley, New York City and Long Island.

Upon federal and state approvals of the merger, expected this summer, the organization will serve over 200,000 patients with more than 2,000 healthcare employees and 41 Community Health Centers across urban and rural communities throughout the service area. The organization will provide a broad spectrum of integrated services, including primary medical care, oral health services, behavioral health care and urgent care.

We've always focused on increasing health care access and quality of care for the individuals and families that we serve. We believe this merger will allow us to achieve our shared goals and missions more effectively, adding clinical, operational and financial strength in an enhanced service area.

Anne Nolon, CEO and President

Anne Kauffman Nolon, CEO and President of Hudson River Health Care, hailed the merger as further demonstrating both organizations’ commitment to innovation and a unique opportunity to strengthen community-based care for populations in need. “We’ve always focused on increasing health care access and quality of care for the individuals and families that we serve. We believe this merger will allow us to achieve our shared goals and missions more effectively, adding clinical, operational and financial strength in an enhanced service area.”

“Our intent to merge enhances our ability to execute our strategic plan by improving access to comprehensive primary care for vulnerable populations, including people living with HIV and AIDS and those with mental illness and substance use disorders,” said Brightpoint Health’s CEO Paul Vitale. “We share common roots and values. The complementary nature of our two organizations will allow us to build a stronger future together and be in a stronger position to manage the entire care needs of the communities we serve.”

Once the merger is completed, Anne Nolon will be the CEO of the combined organization. Paul Vitale will be president of the combined organization, with network-wide responsibilities, and will be responsible for New York City operations. He will report to Anne Nolon.

In addition, several Brightpoint Health board members will join the HRHCare board after the merger.
