How to Start a Revolution of You

'Your Life After Trauma' host Michele Rosenthal will interview International Health & Empowerment Coach Katie Humphrey and lightning strike survivor Debra Sands this Thursday. Guests will discuss developing a post-trauma identity and what that means.

Trauma leaves its survivors forever changed. There is almost always a struggle to get 'back' to the way they were 'before'. Sometimes it helps to have a plan for making that new identity a reality. This week on 'Your Life After Trauma' Katie Humphrey, International Health and Empowerment Coach, will share 'How to Start a Revolution of You'. The show will also feature Debra Sands, a survivor who revolutionized her life after being struck by lightning. The show airs Thursday, July 28th at 7pm EST, on Seaview Radio (95.9AM/106.9FM/960AM) and streams online at www.healmyptsd.com/your-life-after-trauma. Call in with your questions: 877.960.9960.

According to Michele Rosenthal, host of 'Your Life After Trauma', "After trauma it's normal to feel some identity confusion. Questions like, 'Who am I now?', 'What do I do now?' and 'Where do I go from here?' are common. The trick to answering them is to construct a post-trauma identity, a new way of perceiving who you are and how you plan to live a meaningful life."

Debra Sands, an accomplished artist, interior designer and animal advocate has an incredible passion for living life to the fullest.

Almost 30 years ago, she began as a stylist in Commercial Photography, her artistic talents continued to evolve as a Trompe L'oeil Artist, Muralist, Home and Yacht Stager and now an Interior Designer. As clients remodeled or redecorated their homes, many passed on furniture and accessories to her for reuse, reinvention or refurbishing; Debra's New England upbringing taught her to recycle before it was chic. When three storage units were over stuffed, Debra decided it was time to start a new career and SANDS OF TIME was created. Located in the Center Street Plaza next to Miller's Jupiter Ale House, Sands of Time is a unique resale and interior design boutique offering inspiration to people in all sorts of ways. According to Jupiter Magazine, Debra is known for her Retro Elegance and as a "Vintage Maverick".

Debra, a former Cape Cod resident, began her career inadvertently as a child helping her Great Uncle Joe in his workshop restoring and repairing antiques. Today, Debra is designing unique furniture pieces, shell and driftwood mirrors, and finds interesting one- of-a- kind items, mostly vintage and transforms them with paint, often with new upholstery giving them a new identity and contemporary style. Having an eye for unexpected and out-of-the-ordinary pieces she is developing "the boutique" into a destination for designers and consumers throughout the country.

Debra lives in Jupiter with Splash, a Border collie, who is a Certified Therapy Dog with the Delta Society and his rescue Cat, Squirrel.

Posttraumatic Stress Disorder is a wholly treatable condition that results from a life-threatening experience in which the trauma survivor felt helpless. PTSD symptoms include insomnia, nightmares, flashbacks, emotional numbing, hyperarousal and hypervigilance.
