Hour Escape is Honored to Sponsor the 'Hope House 5K Run/Walk to End Addiction'

Hour Escape, a Long Island escape room experience located in Port Jefferson, New York, is honored and delighted to be a sponsor for the Hope House 5K Run/Walk to End Addiction this Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Shore Front Park, in Patchogue, New York.  This event, which raises money in hopes to end addiction and substance abuse, and the devastation these diseases have on individuals and families, is a fun, affordable and healthy way for the entire family to raise awareness and funds for the honorable charity, Hope House Ministries.

The owners and staff of Hour Escape believe in the mission and efforts of Hope House Ministries and seek to assist this organization in raising money to achieve a more healthy, safe and loving Long Island. As members of the Long Island community, those at Hour Escape know the importance of Hope House Ministries’ goals and seek to help them achieve those goals, with some fun and exercise at the 5K Run/Walk to End Addiction.

Hour Escape owners Jay DiFrietus and Ann Calderone stated: "Substance abuse and addiction has affected countless lives and has become a major issue across the country, and especially here on Long Island. This terrible disease knows no boundaries and Hope House has helped many families deal with the havoc it can wreak. We are proud to support such an important cause and we hope other people will support them as well."

Hope House Ministries was founded in 1980 with the mission “to provide compassionate, comprehensive and competent care for the poor, the marginal and wounded.” According to the Hope House Ministries website, they are specifically committed to young people, families in crisis, pregnant women, mothers and babies in crisis and all other wounded people in society. The care given by the wonderful people at Hope House Ministries impacts over two thousand people each month. Hope House Ministries has both residential and treatment-based facilities, totaling ten facilities. Of those, three in particular focus on the issue of addiction: Hope Academy at Little Portion Friary, a long-term non-traditional residential treatment program for addiction; The Human Services Center, which provides counseling for those suffering from addiction and alcoholism (among other things); and St. Maximilian Kolbe Outpatient Addictions Treatment Center, an outpatient facility that provides both individual and group therapy to those who suffer from addiction-related diseases.

Registration for the 5K is available until 11:59 P.M. on Friday, May 17, 2018. Entry is $25.00 for participants and the run begins promptly at 9 A.M. The event is fun for the whole family, as there is a “Kids Fun Run” from 8:30 - 9:00 A.M., with an admission of $5.00. Even if you cannot run, both Hour Escape and Hope House Ministries would greatly appreciate a donation to this worthy cause.
