Hot Real Estate News: Reese Witherspoon & Sarah Jessica Parker
Online, October 3, 2012 (Newswire.com) - This week's Top 10 homes spotlight at TopTenRealEstateDeals.com includes a look at the historic California home of Reese Witherspoon. Libby Ranch was designed by Wallace Neff in 1923 for Edward Libbey, of glassware fame, as a horse stable. In following years the ranch evolved and has had a series of famous owners such as Harold Ramis, Kathryn Ireland and now owned and for sale by Reese at $10 million. Frank Capra used the home as the setting for Shangri-La in his film, Lost Horizon.
In other home news:
Home prices in the United States are dirt cheap compared to much on Europe. Even New York City and San Francisco are bargains compared to Paris, London, and Monaco where a closet space can cost $1 million. But $483 million for a London mansion may be a new world's record. With its 60,000 square feet and 45 bedrooms, it was the perfect home for Sultan bin Abdulaziz' 12 wives and 32 children. But the Sultan died last October. The pricey home is located in the center of London, near Buckingham Palace.
In a dismal real estate market now entering its sixth year, people have tried every possible ploy to sell a home. Vacation giveaways, free furniture, a lifetime beer supply and lots of free cars are just a few of the gimmicks people have tried to get their homes sold. Now, in Massachusetts, a car seller has turned things around. Buy the owner's vintage Rolls Royce for $1,295,900, and get the owner's home for free. It's a nice six bedroom home over 5,400 square feet on 4.8 acres, heated driveway and Merrimack River views. However, the car may be a bit overpriced.
Also in the news, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are asking $25 million for the Greenwich townhouse they bought in 2011 for $19 million, and one of President Obama's former Martha's Vineyard oceanside vacation rentals is for sale.
