Honda World Orange County Sponsors Newport Beach Police Department for Baker to Vegas Relay
Online, April 14, 2010 (Newswire.com) - San Diego, CALIF - April 13, 2010 - For three days the Newport Beach Police Department (NBPD) won't be fighting crime, but rather fighting to win the highly respected Baker to Vegas Relay taking place this month.
This isn't just any relay race, where you run X amount of miles and then everyone goes home. This is a 120 mile race that begins in Baker, CA and ends in Las Vegas, NV; which features over 8,000 law enforcement agents from across the world. Last year's race saw over 247 teams and this year's event is expected to be even bigger. The race will begin on April 16 and will come to an end on April 19 at the Hilton Convention Center in Las Vegas.
Participants in the event will be some of the most fit and athletic police officers the world has to offer. The Baker to Vegas Relay is a time honored tradition and this year's relay will be the 25th Anniversary of the highly respected event. "This year's event will be unlike any other," said Joe Wingert, Newport Beach Police Detective. "It's a wonderful event and we are so thankful to have Honda World Orange County as a sponsor."
The NBPD will be trying to achieve the unthinkable, by winning their eighth title in 11 years. "The NBPD does so much for the community and any time that we can show our appreciation we will," said Jim Kitzmiller, OC Honda World President. When the NBPD participants aren't running they will be sitting comfortably in the all new Honda Odyssey donated by Honda World Orange County, as they cheer and support their teammates. Honda World Orange County also stepped up their support for the NBPD by giving them a cash donation as well.
