Honda Will Build S2000 Successor Equipped With 1.5T and 2.0T

shenzhen, December 9, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Recently, some foreign media reported that Honda is planning to launch a new sports car to compete with Mazda MX-5 and Fiat 124 Spider, the car is considered will be be the successor of the Honda S2000.
According to reports, Honda considered the entry-level sports car Honda S660 developed for the Japanese market was unable to meet the needs of the North American and European markets, although a position lower than the new NSX's mid-turbocharged engine sports car which is also planned, but Honda seem to be more willing priority regain Roadster models market.
So the positioning of the new Honda S2000 will be higher than Honda S660, and insist on rear-drive layout. But foreign media speculation, since Honda currently the main thrust is the new generation Civic FF platform, so the new Honda S2000 face the biggest problem is lack a suitable rear-drive platform for development.
In power, the foreign media is expected to the new Honda S2000 will be equipped with 1.5L turbocharged gasoline engine, and provide 150 hp version and 180 hp versions for different market. The new car will compete with Mazda MX-5 and Fiat 124 Spider and other two-seater Roadster sports car.
