Hollywood Schoolhouse Celebrates Opening of Madnani Theater With Ribbon Cutting

Hollywood Schoolhouse, a pre-K through sixth grade independent school, is pleased to announce a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for The Madnani Theater on Sunday, March 12, from 1-3 p.m. This celebration marks the complete renovation and the official opening of the black box theater located on the corner of North McCadden Place and Lexington Avenue. The theater has 49 retractable seats with state-of-the-art lighting and media equipment.

This project was made possible by a lead gift from The Madnani Family Trust, governed by philanthropists Stephanie and Sean Madnani. "Their support of Hollywood Schoolhouse has made an incredible impact on our students, their families, the neighborhood and the community," said Ilise Faye, Head of School. "This is a project everyone can stand behind. We added an amazing flexible space for performances, classes, and rehearsals for our students. We are so pleased with the updated and improved exterior of the structure for everyone to enjoy."

Hollywood Schoolhouse hopes to make The Madnani Theater available free of charge for qualifying nonprofits such as Boys and Girls Club, Hollywood Police Activities League and more. The aim is to provide a safe space for neighborhood children to explore theater arts. Additionally, the Madnani Theater will be available for rent. The pandemic forced many theaters to close their doors, and we hope The Madnani Theater will help fill the need for rehearsal, screenings, readings, performances, classes, and other special events. Refreshments will be served and famed Bob Baker Marionettes will perform two shows for audiences of all ages.

Additional naming opportunities are available throughout the theater. Please contact Hilary Hellman, Director of Advancement, for more information or visit our website at hshla.org.
