Former Harris-Tarkett Historic Manufacturing Plant Still Going Strong

Thanks to the vision of Johnson City native Steve McKinney, the former Harris-Tarkett flooring plant will live on to serve its intended purpose. McKinney’s company, Historic Flooring, acquired the property in 2012 and continues to produce hand-crafted reclaimed flooring that ships all over the country.
According to McKinney, “This couldn’t have come along at a better time,” after outgrowing his small operation a few miles from the historic site. “I believe in divine intervention. It was meant to be. Almost everyone you meet in Johnson City has either worked at the plant or knows someone who did.
