Historic Bank of Clearwater Helps Local Businesses Beat Early Signs of Recession

On April 13th, In light of questions of a possible recession, like-minded business owners, professionals and entrepreneurs from various fields met at the monthly business reception at the Historic Bank of Clearwater, Downtown Clearwater from 6-8pm.

To combat the potential financial danger, local individuals from diverse walks of life and business backgrounds including banking, law, beauty, cinema cafes, sound equipment engineers, fashion and tailors, food services, restaurants and marketing agencies decided to come together to network and expand their business contacts as their way of creating new businesses avenues at the Scientology Information Center housed in the Historic Bank of Clearwater.

“During this time of financial stress business individuals need additional ways to make themselves known and get their businesses moving,” stated Amber Skjelset, Manager of the Scientology Information Center, “The Scientology Information Center started these complimentary monthly business receptions to allow business professionals to meet and network to create a strong and vibrant city through strengthening local businesses.”

Those attending received a complimentary gift of the “Problems of Work” film DVD based on the book by L. Ron Hubbard which provides landmark solutions for immediate application to bring stability to difficulties encountered in the workplace such as stress, confusion in the workplace, and interpersonal difficulties on the job.

Local business leaders discussed news announcing dropping oil prices. Originally viewed as a break to commuters, dropping oil prices are now resulting in thousands losing their jobs as well as supporting jobs such as transportation and hospitality and has jolted the stock market. According to the Wall Street Journal, the U.S. retail sales fell 0.3% in March, the latest sign of consumer caution. These changes have also affected the success and stability of local businesses.

“So what do you do to prepare for the recessions? How can you survive and even prosper from a monster recession?” wrote best selling author and International sales trainer, Grant Cardone in a recent post on LinkedIn called, “Prepare for a Massive Recession”. While there are many theories, and potential solutions of how to cope with a recession - many have their own solutions to coping during trying financial times.

The monthly business receptions began in November 2015 shortly after the Center’s opening in July 2015. Since its opening the Center has welcomed some 8,000 visitors to the Information Center which provides a destination in Downtown Clearwater where anyone can visit and get their questions answered about Scientology, and attend community-Inspired events.

Future Business Receptions will be held the 2nd Wednesday of every month. Upcoming dates are:  May 11th and June 8th.
