High Water Women to Hold Fifth Symposium on Impact Investing

NEW YORK, November 27, 2017 (Newswire.com) - High Water Women (HWW), the not-for-profit volunteer organization with a focus on empowering women and youth, is holding its fifth annual Symposium on Impact Investing in New York at the City of New York Graduate Center, this Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017. Featured speakers include Valerie Rockefeller, Trustee, Chair of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and Governor Deval Patrick, Managing Director of Double Impact, Bain Capital.

This year’s Symposium will continue to build on the themes which HWW has been developing since it first launched its impact symposium program in 2013: the practical realities of building an impact portfolio, the opportunities and challenges for acting, the latest developments in impact investing and women in the impact investment marketplace.

HWW has been a thought leader in impact philanthropy since its founding in 2005. The Symposium brings together family offices, foundations and their advisers, as well as asset managers, academics, and other key stakeholders to engage in dynamic conversations on investing for impact.

The daylong program starts at 9:00 am with Valerie Rockefeller, who will be interviewed by Debra Schwartz, Managing Director of Impact Investments, The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. The interview will be followed by two plenary sessions focused on Taking Action: Removing Obstacles to Change and Fighting for a Better World: Women in Impact Investing. Attendees will then choose between four breakout sessions. A networking lunch will be followed by four afternoon breakout sessions, then afternoon plenary sessions featuring Governor Deval Patrick interviewed by Imogen Rose Smith, Investment Fellow, University of California, and two panels on Impact Investing in the New Age of Social Activism and Go Big or Go Home, the bold ideas driving impact investing today. The program will conclude at 5:30 p.m.
