High Precision Linear Positioners

A large variety of high precision linear positioners, XY stages and vertical linear stages is offered by PI miCos.

A large variety of high precision linear positioners, XY stages and vertical linear stages is offered by PI miCos. These highly accurate systems are available with many different drive options from stepper motors to rotary servo motors and electromagnetic linear motors. Miniature stages with piezo motors are also offered.

Applications for these linear motion systems include semiconductor test equipment, photonics alignment, lab-automation, bio-nanotechnology, beam line instrumentation, aerospace technology, fiber-optic positioning, microscopy, laser technology.

In addition to standard linear translation stages spanning positioning ranges from 1 inch to 1 m, highly customized turkey positioning systems with travel ranges up to several meters and air bearings are offered.

Ambient, clean-room and vacuum-compatible versions in several precision classes are available. A special space-qualified version of the MT 40 linear translation stage is currently used on the Mars Rover for a precision focusing mechanism in a laser induced breakdown spectrometer

Drive systems include open-loop stepper motors, closed-loop servo motors and high-speed linear motors. High precision feedback systems such as glass scale encoders are standard or optional on most of the linear and vertical positioning systems.

A variety of single and multi-axis motor controllers with USB interfaces and software packages specially designed for these precision positioners is offered.
