Popular character Alice of Resident Evil inspired by Alice in Wonderland!

Just a few days from now the country will be attacked by the zombies and Alice will come for our rescue. The fifth installment in the world famous zombie franchise "Resident Evil-Retribution" releases in the Indian theaters on 28th September. The movie inspired by a game is well-known for its gaudy images and heart shattering scenes clubbed with the dreadful looking zombies, which adds more thrill and excitement to the experience of watching the film. Simply based on the fact that Good wins over Evil, the franchise fans are still unaware of few facts about the film. The character of Alice which gained popularity immediately after the release of its first film is a character which is inexistent in the game from which the film is adopted. That character in fact is inspired by the Alice of Alice in Wonderland and is totally Paul's creation with a bit of help from his colleagues, confirms our source. That one was shocking isn't it?

But as much as the movie has borrowed from the game, the game too is now borrowing from the movie. "Things like the laser corridor from the first film, the red queen, all of those things have found their way into the video game franchise as well. I remember when we did Resident Evil: Extinction, the third film in 2007; we got a ton of flak from RE aficionados. But later RE5 video game revealed which is all in the burning heat in Africa, all in the sunshine. There are scenes and shots that are lifted exactly from the third movie. And of course it went on to become the most successful game of all," reveals Paul.

The creativity of the film comes from the use of different color palette in each film. It adds new elements to each version so every time a new installment in the film franchise is released it has a new location, new characters and a diverse color palette that adds fun to the lore. Because of this distinctive feature the film has earned a place of appreciation even amongst the non-gaming crowds.

Another reason for the film gaining such popularity is the regular feedbacks received and a quick action taken by the team over the audience response. "We have always used the most popular creatures and the most popular characters that people have asked for .That is why the dogs and the Lickers were in the movie franchise. It's why Jill came into the movie franchise; it's why Leon, Ada and Barry are here. Because people were just clambering for them to be in the franchise," says Paul.

It is also heard that the sixth installment in the franchise will soon be on the floors and the film being in its 10th year this year has so far successfully revived the spirit and craze for zombies amongst the crowd.

The Sony Pictures film "Resident Evil-Retribution" is written and directed by Paul W.S.Anderson and stars Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez, Kevin Durand, Sienna Guillory, Shawn Roberts, Aryana Engineer, Colin Salmon, Johann Urb, with Boris Kodjoe, and Li Bingbing. The 1 hour 35 minute film releases in 3D.
