Heritage Compliance Sentiment Survey Results Released for Q3 2018

Growth continues, but slows.

Heritage Business International, L3C (HBI) released the results of its U.S. Cultural Resource Management Office Manager’s Sentiment Survey for the third quarter of 2018 today. HBI's survey is the only forward-looking market survey for the heritage compliance sector. Each quarter, the survey asks office managers of companies providing heritage compliance services if their invoices will be less, the same, or more in the next quarter, in six months, and in a year. An index of 50 is the same, greater than 50 is growth, and less than 50 is contraction.

At the U.S. national level, the next-quarter index is 61.8.

At the U.S. national level, the six-month index is 55.3.

At the U.S. national level, the one-year index is 59.9.

The full survey report that includes trends, regional data, historical data, and some state data may be purchased on HBI’s web site:  heritagebusiness.org.

"Office managers at heritage compliance, or cultural resource management, firms believe that growth will continue over the next year" said Christopher Dore, Ph.D., a consultant and the survey manager at HBI. "However, managers report that the rate of growth will decrease over that seen in recent quarters."

Firms in the compliance sector of the heritage industry provide professional services, such as archaeology and architectural history services, to clients needing to comply with federal, state, and local laws such as the National Historic Preservation Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, and the California Environmental Quality Act. The heritage compliance sector is valued at approximately $900 million annually. It is typically grouped within the Environmental Consulting Services industry under North American Industry Classification System Code 541620.

Heritage Business International is an L3C social enterprise venture dedicated to helping heritage organizations increase their value, sustainability, and heritage impact. The HBI Office Managers Quarterly Sentiment Survey for the U.S. began in the second quarter of 2017.
