Efforts underway for 2010 for the
Rhode Island Chapter of the National Aging in Place Council®
Providence, Rhode Island - January 2010. Rhode Island is getting involved with local organizers of the senior oriented business community forming the Rhode Island Chapter of the NAIPC. The Chapter will be hosting events throughout the year.
Members of the RI Chapter range from geriatric care managers, home care and home health care professionals, local community banks, financial planners, builders, adult day care providers, nutrition specialists, physicians, pharmacies, attorneys, reverse mortgage providers and real estate professionals, to name a few.
The NAIPC is the only forum of its kind for professionals from a wide range of senior oriented industries. The NAIPC can help with the efforts of the Rhode Island Chapter members in establishing a presence in the growing segment of American business and public policy.
"This is an ideal region for an increased focus on Aging in Place issues. Rhode Island is the sixth largest population of seniors aged 65 or older, and has the fifth largest population of seniors aged 85 or older", states Co-Chairs for the RI Chapter,
Susan Pomfret and Louise Cadieux.
The NAIPC was developed to build awareness and create a forum for individuals from various sectors to work together to help meeting the needs of our growing aging population so they can continue living in the housing of their choice. NAIPC creates a national platform by generating awareness and supporting local chapters in communities throughout the nation.
Some of the RI Chapter roles and responsibilities will consist of:
 Gaining understanding of issues facing seniors
 Increasing awareness of solutions available to seniors in local
community
 Providing networking opportunities to members
 Organizing events
 Establishing local chapter as source for information and
expertise
 Creating positive impact to members' businesses and encourage
industry growth
 Shaping the national public relations and advocacy campaign by
providing information regarding regional trends in the Aging in
Place industry
The RI Chapter of the NAIPC is the States' Aging in Place Senior Support Network.
