About CAYTA

Chicago Austin Youth Travel Adventures (CAYTA) is the brainchild of Austin’s own Crystal Dyer. Crystal has been a travel agent for more than two decades, helping her clients develop affordable vacation packages anywhere in the world with the best airfare, hotels and tours, with convenient payment plans. In 2015, after losing her grandson Devin Dyer to gun violence in Chicago, she was inspired to find a way to reach Austin youth and founded CAYTA.

Every year, CAYTA takes local youth, ages 14-24, on field trips to local museums and cultural events to help them understand their true connections with worldwide cultures right here in Chicago. CAYTA also supports justice-involved-youth within the Juvenile Detention Center’s “Adopt-a-Pod Program.” For those youth departing from the Juvenile Detention Center, CAYTA provides wraparound services, educational referrals, and volunteerism opportunities.

In 2018, CAYTA made its first journey to Ghana, West Africa, with local youth. In April 2020, CAYTA will partner with State Representative La Shawn K. Ford in hosting a “Westside Mandela South Africa Journey.” Details are at www.goneagaintravel.com.
