The dates of October 8 - October 27, 2017 have been set for the annual Kilimanjaro Treasure Quest, sponsored by Hardcore Travel and charity partner, Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust. All globetrotting, competitive adventurers can now submit their applications.

Greg Hughes describes the 3-day competition as "a cultural scavenger hunt, unique and competitive team and individual challenges, and a treasure hunt all rolled into one".

This global event will crown a winning team with the ultimate treasure: a $25,000 cash prize. The event includes the amazing 3-day Treasure Quest competition in Arusha, Tanzania, 4 days of breathtaking, private and guided safaris to the world famous Tanzanian Ngorongoro Crater and Kenya’s Chuyulu Hills. After staying at Campi Ya Kanzi, the Conde Nast and Travel + Leisures award-winning ecolodge, spending some time being culturally immersed amongst the Maasai, each participant will spend 7 days attempting to conquer the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro as a platform to raise funds for the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust.

Greg Hughes describes the 3-day competition as "a cultural scavenger hunt, unique and competitive team and individual challenges, and a treasure hunt all rolled into one". Each two-person team will compete and  attempt to be the first team to decipher the clues and find the hidden $25,000 Ultimate Treasure.

Participants are encouraged to raise additional support, separate from their $12,600 trip fee, for our charity partner, Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust. As an incentive, the top three fundraising teams will win a “Treasure Pass”, a major game-changer that gets their team closer to the ultimate treasure on the final day of competition.

One hundred percent of everything raised from each participant will go towards protecting the legendary ecosystems and astounding biodiversity of East Africa through conservation that directly benefits local Maasai communities.

MWCT, founded by Luca Belpietro, Founder of Campi ya Kanzi and MWCT based in Kenya, with offices in the U.S.is a non-profit organization and strategic partnership between professional conservationists, like U.S. Board President Edward Norton and dynamic Maasai leaders, to show that the Maasai community can thrive, not just survive, by managing their ecosystem wisely.

MWCT’s efforts are focused on the Maasai communities and landscapes of Kenya’s Chyulu Hills, within the world-famous Amboseli-Tsavo Ecosystem.

Hardcore Travel’s goal is to raise $40,000 and increase awareness about an organization that is making a massive impact in the wilderness, wildlife, and cultural heritage of the Maasai.
