Hanover Area YMCA Opens New State-of-Art Indoor/ Outdoor Sports and Wellness Complex and Offers So Much More
HANOVER, PA, March 10, 2017 (Newswire.com) - The Hanover Area YMCA has announced the Grand Opening of their new state-of-the-art indoor/outdoor South Hanover YMCA Sports and Wellness Complex on Saturday, May 13, 2017 kicking off with a Ribbon Cutting ceremony at 9 AM at 650 Fairview Dr., Hanover. This FREE Community event will feature free demonstrations, youth and adult sports clinics, a preview of the area’s only accredited preschool program, school age programs, tours, live music, food and drink. Participating area businesses will also be on display and provide interactive booths for all ages.
The new $8M South Hanover YMCA Sports and Wellness Complex is situated on 15 acres of land with indoor/outdoor athletic fields, a 40,000 sq. ft. climate-controlled indoor field house, brand new high end cardio center, basketball courts and fully-functioning gym, group fitness studio, cycle studio, interactive teen room, Kinder Class and Child Watch programs, and an indoor concession stand for tournaments and games.
"With the Grand Opening planned for May 13, the facility promises to be a pillar in South Hanover for area Youth and Adults sports and we are excited to get the doors open to our community." states Ryan Fitzgibbons, Chief Operating Officer.

The facility will host a variety of sports — soccer, lacrosse, basketball, football, baseball, field hockey, golf, ultimate Frisbee, volleyball, dodgeball, kickball…and more! It will also be available to the community to rent for events, fundraising or external sports leagues and training. The location is convenient to York and Adams Counties, PA; Carroll and Frederick Counties, MD; as well as Baltimore, Harrisburg, and is a short drive from the Philadelphia and DC Metro areas. The new facility hopes to drive tourism and support area businesses.
The Y will also bring new programs to the area such as LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA — a 12 week program for cancer survivors, which includes strength training, mentorship and support resources. Other exclusive Y programs include Fit and Strong for youth ages 8 and up, personal training and sports agility sessions.
“The Y is more than just a place to work out — we’re a place of community. Members will have access to all three locations with our All Access Membership and new members have the opportunity to become a part of the Y history and take advantage of a Charter Membership which allows access to all three facilities, with no joiner’s fee, no money down and no payments until May 15, 2017. As a bonus, after the first 6 months of their new membership, they will enjoy a free month just in time for the Holiday season and to jump start their New Year’s resolutions.” Explains CEO, Liam Behrens.
The Hanover Area YMCA could not have built this facility in the South Hanover area without the generous support of the community and area businesses during the YMCA So Much More Capital Campaign 2016. “With the Grand Opening planned for May 13, the facility promises to be a pillar in South Hanover for area Youth and Adults sports and we are excited to get the doors open to our community.” states Ryan Fitzgibbons, Chief Operating Officer.
