Hall of Famer, Dominique Wilkins Passes The Torch To Music Icon Teddy Riley At The Third Annual Legendary Awards
A star-studded gala honoring and reconnecting with legends who have made significant contributions within their respected field meanwhile raising funds for the American Diabetes Association.
Online, January 17, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Today, the Legendary Awards announced the eight honorees for its third annual star-studded gala. The Legendary Awards honor legends that have made significant contributions within their fields such as music, sports, politics, entertainment and more.
"This year's celebration is very special to us. It feels good to support organizations such as the American Diabetes Association and utilize their platform to raise funds for health research and advocacy infiltrating our households and communities," says John Wilkins, Executive Producer of the Legendary Awards. "Ultimately, the goal is to improve the health of our communities meanwhile having legendary performers honor and perform for legendary nominees creating a platform for generations of legends who have yet to be honored. This thereby allows us to reconnect the past history with the present.
This year's Legendary Awards honorees will be celebrated at the fabulous Fox Theatre, in an award ceremony taking place on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 8:15 p.m. in Atlanta, Georgia.
This year's show hosted by power couple, Actress, Mrs. Shannon Morris - Conley and Writer, Director and Actor, Mr. David M. Conley. The show will feature a 12-piece Orchestra, special musical performances, and former Legendary Brand Ambassador and NBA Hall of Famer, Mr. Dominique Wilkins passing the torch to Teddy Riley.
Other events taking place will be a Fashion Show on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 8:15 p.m. and the Legendary Health Fund and Initiatives taking place at Greenbriar Mall on Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. promoting Diabetes Awareness and offering free clinics for families. These philanthropic events will be benefiting the American Diabetes Association.
The 2013 Legendary Award honorees are: Brand Ambassor, Mr. Teddy Riley and his chosen Highlight Honorees Mr. Keith Sweat and Mr. Rasheed Muhammad, Media Icon Award Honoree, Ms. Jamie Foster Brown, Spotlight Award Honoree, Mr. Tommy W. Dortch Jr., Humanitarian Award Honoree, Ms. Parisa Khosravi, Life Time Achievement Award Honoree, Mr. Sugar Ray Leonard, Pioneer Award Honoree, Ms. Xernona Clayton, and The Legendary Award Honoree, Mr. Abdul 'Duke' Fakir of the Four Tops.
Previous honorees have included Pioneer Award Recipient, Ted Turner, Life Time Achievement Award Recipient, Deion Sanders, Humanitarian Award Recipient, Dr. S. Elizabeth Ford, Human Highlight Recipient, Elgin Bell and Jocelyn Dorsey, and Legendary Award Recipient, Dallas Austin.

The Legendary Awards was introduced to the world in 2010 by Visionary, Philanthropist and Entrepreneur Rhonda Wilkins. The concept was to provide a platform for "Living Legends" to be able to honor others that have made a difference in their life and/or career.
