GundogFinderUK - The Gundog Breeders IPhone App

The website GunDogBreeders.co.uk has launched the first ever Gundog Breeders App for iPhones.
GundogFinderUK is free and enables users to search classified ads by breed, breeders, or gundogs for stud.
The App was approved in mid-December and within a week of its launch had around 60 users and positive feedback, including enquiries as to whether the App could be rolled out for other breeds of dog.
GundogFinderUK was developed by Steph O'Brien - who co-founded the website GunDogBreeders.co.uk.
He works within the digital media marketplace and designed and scoped the App himself, after realising there were no breeder apps available, whether for gundogs or other categories. Feedback from gundog breeders also revealed many use current technology.
'The peak age for iPhone users is between twenty-two and forty-four years and a lot of breeders fall into that demographic,' says Steph. 'I chatted to a few breeders and they said the website was really useful - and it does work on mobiles.'
Getting listed in the App is easy, users register on the GunDogBreeders.co.uk website and their details are automatically pulled through to the App.
'The great thing about the App is that it works in real time,' says Steph. 'So a new breeder profile or classified ad uploaded to the website leads into the App, meaning it works with real data. This makes the App the quickest way to market.'
GunDogBreeders.co.uk was set up 18 months ago by Steph and Susan O'Brien and within six months of its launch, the site had grabbed a huge share of the market to become one of the UK's leading website for gundog breeders - or anyone seeking information about buying or caring for a gundog.
It is now the UK's fastest growing gundog breeders' website, with 300 registered users - and membership is free.
'We've got the largest listing of UK gundog breeders,' says Steph. 'What I wanted to do was make that breeder list more accessible.
'There are a lot of apps out there of a lower specification that will help find the right dog for you - but there was nothing of higher quality from a reputable source and that's what I was trying to do,' he says.
'With the uptake of the Smartphone market - and with iPhones being the market leader at the moment - we wanted to use the iPhone as a test bed for the App.'
'I have looked into further apps for Android and Blackberry, but iPhone has the largest market share, with Android and Blackberry behind that. With Blackberry having more of a corporate user market share, it's not akin to the market we're looking at, but Android definitely is. So we're testing the App on iPhone and if it's successful we're going to look at Android.'
Steph is also planning to rollout a similar app for gundog trainers.
'We're constantly striving to do more and support the breeder community, but in a way that makes it accessible to the public,' he says.
