Growing Russian Mobile Game Market Has Enormous Potential, Says New Report
In the mobile gaming segment, Russia is No. 1 in Europe in terms of the number of downloads.
NEW YORK, September 5, 2017 (Newswire.com) - A multitude of factors make the Russian market highly attractive to international investors and game publishers, says a report (http://zorka.mobi/report) published by mobile marketing agency Zorka.Mobi and business intelligence provider Adjust.
In the mobile gaming segment, Russia is No. 1 in Europe in terms of the number of downloads, with more than 1.6 billion downloads in 2016 alone -- nearly two and four times as many as in the UK and Spain, respectively.
About 120 new mobile games were released last year in Russia, up from 90 in 2015; a nearly 30% increase. Of this number, about 40% were offered by international publishers, with the most successful games generating more than $1 million per month in revenues.
Another reason why international game publishers should keep an eye on Russia is that its market is still in a very early stage. With 80 million smartphone users in 2017, Russia is Europe’s largest mobile internet market, the Zorka report emphasizes, and it’s inevitable that current revenues account for just a fraction of this market’s mid- and long-term potential.
iOS is losing the battle to Android in Europe's largest market. Android's market share in Russia is 69%, while iOS's is only 27%. In contrast to the past years, Android games have begun generating more revenue than iOS games. Retention rates are higher in Russia for Android games but lower for iOS.
The report offers significant details — from Russian users' socio-demographic traits to subtle international comparisons of engagement and retention rates — which will be useful for anyone seeking to promote mobile games in Russia.
Zorka.Mobi (www.zorka.mobi) is an internationally-oriented mobile marketing agency based in Minsk, Belarus, and it was just ranked the No. 1 CPI agency on the Russian market.
Adjust (www.adjust.com) is a German-based mobile measurement company, providing high-quality analytics and measurement solutions for mobile app marketers worldwide.
In addition to data and estimates from Zorka.Mobi and Adjust, the report compiles data from a variety of industry sources, including Newzoo, Prioridata, Statista, StatCounter Global Stats, and others.
