Ground Source Heat Pump Project Wins at Housing Innovation Awards
Online, February 10, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The awards which were held at the prestigious Grand Connaught Rooms in London and hosted by George Clarke famous for TV shows The Restoration Man and The Home Show, celebrate everything innovative in the UK housing sector and are the only awards to focus solely on genuine enterprise in the sector.
The nomination, submitted by Ice Energy, concerned a £1.5million retrofit programme to install 77 ground source heat pumps to homes in rural areas in the South West and East Anglia which was part-funded by £175,000 received as part of the Renewable Heat Premium Payment Social Housing Competition. Continuing a long working partnership with Hastoe, Ice Energy supplied and installed the heat pumps and were an integral part of the tenant liaison work which helped make the project so successful.
Speaking about the success Ice Energy Managing Director and Founder Andrew Sheldon said "We are delighted to see Hastoe win this award. They have taken on the challenge where others have feared to tread by upgrading the heating systems of existing occupied properties to ground source heat pumps where the work involved can sometimes be intensive and disruptive for the tenants.
"However, we at Ice Energy have been able to work in a unique fashion with the tenants to keep such disruption to an absolute minimum. Our expertise in this area over many years helps us greatly in winning this type of contract and many others and equally, enables housing associations to take great confidence when considering heat pumps for their housing stock.
Working with such a professional team as those from Hastoe helped make this project a winner from the start and we very much look forward to continuing our successful partnership with them in the coming years as we work together to help more of their residents enjoy reduced running costs and a better quality of life."
