Nashau, NH - A new green business dedicated to making bike wear from recycled plastic is making an impact in the world of mountain biking. Dirt Republic is a green apparel sports company that has launched a line of performance mountain bike shirts manufactured from 100% recycled pre and post plastic. Working with a technology call REPREVE manufactured by Unifi, Inc. Dirt Republic has created a sustainable product that helps to reduce waste going into landfills and reduces the need for natural resources.

Company President, Jon Wayne, holds a bachelors degree in Business Studies from the University of Huddersfield, England. He believes that mountain biking is the perfect sport to focus the Dirt Republic's green business on. "Bikers are very environmentally
aware and lead by example with the work they do around sustainable trail maintenance. Creating bike shirts from recycled plastic is a great way to further mountain biking's green efforts and to make a positive impact on the environment. There are several
reasons recycling plastic helps but the core benefits include...

• Recycling reduces our reliance on landfills. On average 60M plastic bottles go into landfills every day, 51B a year in the US alone. That's enough to wrap around the earth 5 times,
• Recycling plastic reduces consumption of our natural resources since the production of virgin Polyester requires Gasoline. On average every 1lb of recycled plastic saves 0.5 gallons of gasoline."

Wayne started Dirt Republic in March 2009 in Nashua, NH and after a year of product development has launched their inaugural shirt, the DR.1. There has been a positive response from local bikers and bike shops and Wayne plans to market the shirts both nationally and internationally targeting core mountain biking hot spots in the U.S. and U.K.

With 10.1m people associated with mountain biking in the U.S. alone, Wayne hopes to make a significant impact on the sport in 2010.
